Abstract
The visualization and real-time rendering of three-dimension(3D) terrain surface are hot research topics in geographic infor-mation system(GIS),digital photogrammetry(DP),and virtual reality(VR) and so on.The progress of OpenGL and the associated technologies of the digital elevation model(DEM) is introduced,especially the key technology and the implemented process of the 3D terrain visualization technology programming is especially discussed using OpenGL.
