Abstract
Metamaterials have different electromagnetic characteristics from those of regular materials, because of their negative permittivity and negative permeability in some certain frequency ranges. These electromagnetie properties are relative to the structures of metamaterials. In this paper, the relations between the structure parameters and the electromagnetic characteristics of the SRRs-Wires are simulated and analyzed. Then on the basis of this,a quadrate structure which can satisfy both negative permittivity and negative permeability is proposed. The simulation results show that this new structure shows negative permittivity and negative permeability, resulting in a refractive index in a wider bandwidth. It is hoped that the results reported here may be a reference for the researchers working in the area of metamaterials research.
