Abstract

We discussed the species composition, distribution range and distribution pattern of the national key protected wild plants in Hubei Province as well as assessing the conservation status, basing on the field survey, specimen records and the information from published literatures. The results show that there are 51 species of the national key protected wild plants in Hubei, among which 43 species are in the southwestern of Hubei.According to the number of appeared species in different districts of Hubei, the sequence is as follows:Southwest districtNorthwest districtSoutheast districtNortheast districtCentral hill districtJianghan Plain district. In the 51 species, most of them are sporadic or single distribution while 15 species are aggregated distribution, accounting for 29.4%of total species. At present,47 species of the national key protected wild plants in Hubei Province have been effectively protected in nature reserves, but the exsitu conservation is making slow progress.Of some species.
