Abstract
In the late Eastern Han Dynasty,urged by Cao Cao,emperor Xian chose Xuchang for the capital.As a result,the political status of Xuchang in the whole country was rapidly raised.Xuchang played an extremely important political,military,economic and cultural role and entered the flourishing period in its historical development.Although emperor Wen,Cao Pi,chose Luoyang for the capital,Xuchang was still considered to be an important capital city and Xuchang entered a period of steady development.After emperor Ming,Cao Rui,came into power,attention was still paid to the economic and cultural development of Xuchang by the ruler,but its political status gradually declined.This is the declining period in the historical development of Xuchang.
