Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical effect of bronchial arterial infusion (BAI) chemotherapy combined with percutaneous interstitial 125I seed implantation guided by CT in elder patients with central bronchogenic cancer. Thirty cases of elder patients with central bronchogenic cancer were divided randomly into Group A and Group B. Fifteen patients in Group A were treated with BAI chemotherapy followed by percutaneous interstitial 125I seed implantation 1 week later. The radioactivity of each 125I seed was 0.8 mCi. The overall radioactivity and implanting location of 125I seed were determined by the treatment planning system (TPS). Fifteen patients in Group B were treated with BAI chemotherapy with Cisplatinum, adriblastine and CTX. After the treatment, the total response rate (CR+PR) in Group A was 86.67 %,while in Group B was 53.33%.There was a significant difference between Group A and Group B, P=0.047 2. In conclusion, compared to BAI chemotherapy, percutaneous interstitial 125I seed implantation guided by CT combined with BAI chemotherapy shows a higher response rate for elder patients with bronchogenic carcinoma.
