Abstract
Potassium ferrate(Ⅵ) is well-known all over the world as a new and high efficient green water treatment agent, but its advantages and wide application can not be fully shown compared to other water treatment agents due to its strict conditions of preparation and storage. In this paper, titanium alloy and iron were used as cathode and anode, respectively, and concentrated sodium hydroxide solution was selected as electrolyte, then potassium ferrate was prepared by electrolytic process. The product was analyzed by infrared spectrum(IR). Results showed that the yield of potassium ferrate was the highest when the reaction temperature was 30 ℃, the concentration of Na OH was 16 mol / L, the reaction time was 2 h, and the current density was 100 m A / cm2. The synthetic product was confirmed by the characteristic of infrared spectrum. The wastewater from pig farming industry was disposed with this home-made potassium ferrate(70% purity) and the removal rate of COD could reach to 70% with 100 mg / L potassium ferrate under the alkalescent condition. At the same time, chromaticity and turbidity were lowered and stench was also eliminated.
