Trabeculectomy with modified sclera flap

Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of trabeculectomy with modified sclera flap.Methods 96 eyes with primary angle closure glaucoma were divided into two groups:43 eyes (40 patients) treated by trabeculectomy with modified sclera flap and 53 eyes (48 patients) underwent normal trabeculectomy.Post-operative shallow anterior chamber,postoperative IOP,filtration blebs were followed up and compared in two groups.Results The shallow anterior chamber was 4.65% (2/43) in modified trabeculectomy and 20.75%(11/53) in normal trabeculectomy.There were significant difference between two groups (P0.05).The intraocular pressure were lower than 21 mmHg in 42 eyes in modified trabeculectomy and 45 eyes in normal trabeculectomy at the end of follow up.There were significant difference between two groups(P0.05).The functional filtration blebs of type Ⅰand Ⅱ were 40 eyes in modified trabeculectomy and 40 eyes in normal trabeculectomy.There were significant difference between two groups (P0.05).Conclusion Trabeculectomy with modified sclera flap may decrease the occurrence of postoperative shallow anterior chamber and control intraocular pressure effectively.
