Abstract

The di/dt capability and the failure mechanism of thyristor are analyzed, and the prevention measures from the di/dt failure are given.Based on the thyristor operating case in converter of power locomotive, the di/dt failure reason of thyristor is analyzed. The results show that the failure reason is related to the width and frequency of trigger pulses applied to the thyristors gate.
