The Benefactor and New Fiction of France

Abstract

Sontag was greatly influenced by New Fiction of France in 1950s when writing her maiden work,The Benefactor.In the novel the plot is deconstructed,the characters and narrator are banished and only a labyrinth of narrative form is left,which declares the end of trust between the writer and the reader.This creation is essentially an experiment under the influence of New Fiction.
