Metafiction is the about or about how fiction becomes fiction,that is,fiction that comments on ficiton itself at the same time as the fiction.The two processes are closely combined,thus breaking the obvious dividing line between writing and criticism and merging them into the concepts of interpretation and decomposition. Joseph Heller's Portrait of an Artist,as an Old Man(2000) is a typical metafiction which is a destruction of the traditional novel and narrative form in all its content,form and language.
