Abstract

Objective:To compare the efficacy between olazapine and clozapine in the treatment of schizaphrenia, and then to compare the improvement of social functions. Method:Seventy schizophrenic patients were randomly divided into olanzapine group and clozapine group. All the patients were evaluated with positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS),treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) and social disability screening schedule(SDSS) after treatment for 6 weeks. Results:At baseline and after treatment, the total scores and factor scores of PANSS had no sigmificant differences in the two groups.Olanzapine had less execess calmness and anticholinergy than clozapine. After 6 months of treatment, the scores of profession, marriage, parental responsibility, social withdraw, responsibility, plan and total scores of SDSS in olazapine group were significantly better than that in clozapine group. Conclusion:The efficacy of both groups are similar, but olanzapine group has less side effects and significantly overwins clozapine in improving social function which benefits schizophrenic patients in social life.
