Abstract
According to the physical geography characteristics and spatial distribution, wetland in the Yangtze Basin can be divided into three groups mainly: estuarial and coastal wetland, river-lake wetland in middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and Yunnan-Guizhou plateau lakes wetland. Due to the effects of population growth and economic development, wetlands in the Yangtze Basin could not get enough protection but were utilized fully in the mean time. So, all of these wetlands are confronted with the threats of degradation and loss. On the base of analysis to the reasons of wetland degradation, countermeasures of wetland restoration and protection are suggested in this paper.
