Abstract
The effects of plating time on electroless nickel plating of magnesium alloy AZ51 are studied by deposition rate calculation, plating morphology observing and corrosion resistance test. The results show that a Ni-P alloy layer can be obtained on the surface of magnesium alloys AZ51 by direct electroless nickel plating. With the increase of plating time, the deposition rate increases firstly and then decreases and reaches its maximum at 1h.The corrosion rate decreases and the corrosion resistance increases.
