Abstract
Two-step electroless Ni-P plating(TSENP)technique applied on the surface of AZ31 magnesium alloy was studied. The results showed that second eletroless Ni-P alloy with NiSO4 as the main salt could be obtained by neutral electroless plating directly on AZ31 magnesium alloy after 8 minutes. The surface of the obtained plating was bright, homogeneous, compact and no obvious defects. The phosphorus content of this coating was about 11.42%.The microhardness of the plating was improved compared with that of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The adherence between the plating and matrix was excellent and the coating obtained was corrosion-resistant.
