Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects and feasibility of phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens( PC-IOL) im- plantation in posterior capsular rupture. Methods Phacoemulsification was performed on 297 eyes of 268 patients. During operation posterior capsular rupture occurred on 19 eyes, 15 eye' vitreous were lost. The pos- torior chamber IOL implantation was performed in all cases. Results Final visual acuity of ≥ 0.3 was obtained in 19 eyes, ≥ 0. 5 in 14 eyes and ≥ 1.0 was obtained in 5 eyes. Conclusion The implantation of PC- IOL can be performed successfully when the posterior capsular rupture was solved smoothly.
