Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of vitrectomy with C3F8 on retinal detachment due to degenerative myopia with macular hole. Methods 16 case (17 eyes) due to degenerative myopia macular hole retinal detachment was treated with Vitreoretinal surgery, filled with C3F8.We investigated the visual acuity, visual field, OCT, ocular fundus ,complication and followed up from 6 to 18 months (average 12.4 months). Results In all patients, the visual acuity was improved and central visual field enlarged except one failed case. The best final visual acuity is 0.5.OCT shows:16 eyes attained retinal reattachment and macular hole closed.Transient ocular hypertension was found in 1 eye, which recovered 1 day after drug application.Local haemorrhage happened in 1 eye, which absorbed after 1 week. no other complications occurred. Conclusions The technique of vitrectomy with C3F8 for retinal detachment due to degenerative myopia macula hole is safe and effective.
