Diagnosis value of a-interferon determination combined with carcinoembryonic antigen in tuberculous pleural effusion and malignant pleural effusion

Abstract

Objective To explore the a-interferon(IFN-a), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in the combined detection of tuberculous pleural effusion and malignant pleural effusion diagnosis. Methods 60 cases of pleural effusion in patients for the study, in which tuberculosis pleural effusion in 31 cases, 29 cases of malignant pleural effusion, the application of ELISA assay and IFN-a concentration of CEA. Results the content of IFN-a in tuberculosis pleural effusion were higher than those group of malignant pleural effusion, there was a significant difference (P0.01): malignant pleural effusion group were higher than those of CEA tuberculosis pleural effusion group, there was a significant difference (P0.01). IFN-a on the diagnosis of tuberculosis pleural effusion of the sensitivity and specificity were 96.8%, 93.1%; CEA for the diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion of the sensitivity and specificity were 86.2%, 93.5%; IFN-a and CEA joint detection of tuberculosis pleural effusion diagnosis sensitivity and specificity were 100%, 96.6%. Conclusions IFN-a and CEA can be used as identification of clinically tuberculosis pleural effusion and malignant pleural effusion, the joint detection of tuberculosis pleural effusion and malignant pleural effusion of the significance of the differential diagnosis are more significant.
