Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of tibolone on climacteric syndrome in postmenopausal women. Methods 61 postmenopausal women were randomly divided into therapy group and control group. In therapy group 33 postmenopausal women were given tibolone 2.5 mg daily combined with caltrated-D600 mg daily for 3 months. In control group,28 postmenopausal women were only given caltrated-D600 mg daily for 3 months. The scores of climacteric symptoms, using the Kupperman Climacteric Scales were recorded at baseline and after three months.Serum FSH and LH and E_2 were measured at baseline and after three months.Serum, and vaginal bleeding, breast tenderness, body mass index(BMI) ALT and ASTwere observed at baseline and after three months. Results In therapy group Climacteric symptoms were alleviated, the scores of kupperman climacteric scales were decreased.serum FSH and LH were significiantly decreased while E_2 significiantly increased in therapy group, but not in comtrol group BMI and ALT and AST had no changes in two groups. In therapy group, only one woman had vaginal bleeding after two months of therapy and two women had breast tenderness after one month of therapy.the endometrial thicknesses were less than 5 mm after therapy in therapy group. Conclusion Tibolone can improve climacteric symptoms with well tolerance.
