Abstract

Objective:To observe the protective effect of Hedyotis lance aqueous extract(JYECA) on acute liver injury in mice.Method: The models of carbon tetrachloride(CCl4) and D-GalN-induced acute liver injury in mice with the method of intraperitoneal injection were used to study the protective effects of JYECA.The colorimetric assay was used to measure the activity of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) in blood serum,and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) in liver homogenate were determined.Hematoxylin and eosin(HE) stain was used to examine the degree of hepatic injury.Result: JYECA could obviously reduce the activity of AST and ALT and the content of MDA in acute hepatic injury mice,and increase the activity of SOD(P0.01 or P0.05).JYECA could reduce the degree of hepatic injury.Conclusion: JYECA has protective effect on acute hepatic injuried mice.The mechanism may be related to attenuating free radical and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.
