Abstract
The mechanical properties of ductile iron exposed to water has been investigated, and detailed information about the environmental embrittlement result from the exposure to water are found The mechanism of that has also been studied in this paper It is indicated that the enbrittlement is due to the hydrogen embrittlement caused by the decomposition of water during the plastic deformation Further more, the model of the atomic hydrogen generation process is given in this paper
