Abstract

Objective To study the effect of the levels of serum interleukin-6(IL-6) and C-reactive protein(CRP) on monitoring pathogenetic condition and the severity of coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods 148 CHD patients were divided into 3 groups, including 48 cases of acute myocardial infarction(AMI),45 cases of unstable angina (UAP),49 cases of stable angina(SAP) and control group consisted of 50 healthy people. The level of CRP was measured by immunoturbidimetric method, the level of IL-6 was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the level of IL-6 and CRP.Results The levels of IL-6 and CRP were significantly higher in AMI,UAP and SAP groups than those in control group(P0.05).Compared with SAP group, the levels of IL-6 and CRP were increased in AMI and UAP groups, while there was no significant difference between AMI group and UAP group. The level of CRP was positively associated with the level of IL-6.Conclusions Serum CRP and IL-6 may be the markers of coronary atherosclerosis and involved in the process of CHD.The levels of serum IL-6 and CRP are correlate with the severity of CHD.
