Abstract

This paper discusses the necessity of cultivating learner autonomy in college English teaching.Much focus of this paper is on that learner autonomy can be fostered through the selections of teaching material,the design of teaching tasks and activities,the change of teachers’ roles,the development of learners’ meta-cognitive strategies and learning strategy training.
