The Representation of Li Bai's Official Mentality in His Poems Written after Drinking Liquor

Abstract

Li Bai is a famous romanticism poet in the Tang Dynasty of China.His drinking liquor has enjoyed the same fame with his poems.Du Fu said Li Bai could write hundreds of poems after drinking;his poem gift can be seen clearly.Li Bai had a life-long official pursuit,but he was unwilling to go the imperial exam way,just wanted to find out various shortcuts to his destination,and all in vain.Therefore,his anger psychology for failure was often reflected in his poems.This paper analyzes Li Bai's mentality from four aspects: self-glorification mentality,shortcut to high official mentality,being a high official and patriotic mentality,and ignoring wealth but persuing fame mentality.From the mentality reflected from his poems,his mind of benefiting the mankind and lofty sentiments can be seen.However,the more is his failure and pain.Due to his personality,he spent his life in a mood of unconstraint and anguish.
