Abstract

Objective To investigate the application value of continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS) on gestational diabetes mellitus patients(GDM).Methods Thirty pregnant women underwent 50 g glucose challenge test(GCT) and a oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) were divided into three groups: normal GCT group, abnormal GCT group and GDM group, with 10 cases in each group. All of the patients recieved the CGMS test to monitor the blood glucose excursion for 3 days. Results The overall coefficient of blood glucose excursions, mean fasting blood glucose level, mean postprandial blood glucose level, extent of preprandial and postprandial blood glucose increment, and incidence of hypoglycemic and hyperglycaemic events were significantly higher in GDM group than those in other two groups(P all0.05).Conclusion CGMS can accurately reflect the blood glucose excursions in GDM,and improve the compliance of diet treatment, exercise treatment and drug treatment of patients. It has important value in improvihg the prognosis.
