Endoscopic frontal sinus surgery treatment of 15 cases with mucoceles of frontal sinus

【Objective】To investigate the safety and the effect of endoscopic frontal sinus surgery for mucoceles of frontal sinus. 【Method】From January 2000 to September 2007, the clinical data on 15 patients′ frontal mucoce- les had been collected for retrospective study. All patients were treated by endoscopic frontal sinus surgery. Among of them, four patients received the combined endoscopic and extra-frontal approach. The surgical complication and curative effect were evaluated after operation. 【Results】All patients had been cured fast after operation. None of them had severe complications amomg or after operation. During the follow-up of 6 months to 7 years the symptoms, such as headache and bug-eyed, had been disappeared completely. A good draining of frontal stoma and complete epithelization could be in the view of endoscopy. No cases get recurrence. 【Conclusion】Endoscopic frontal sinus surgery provide clear visual field, fineness for operation, good curative effect, less complication, subtle invasion, quick rehabilitation and no scar on the face. The method is an ideal option for the treatment of frontal mucoceles.
