Interpreting,Teaching and Learning Confucianism:A Careful Study of Han Yu's Masterpieces on Education

Abstract

Han Yu,a great Confucian apologist,regarded reviving Confucianism as his lifelong duty.In On Confucianism,he made clear his proposition of reviving Confucianism and excluding Buddhism and Taoism and maintained that the aim of education should be illustrating On Human Nature,he proposed three-type human nature as the theoretical basis of learning Confucianism.In On Teachers,he emphasized teachers' role in teaching Confucianism in order to regain its former status;in On Learning,he specifically expounded the right attitude and methods that one should take in learning Confucianism.Han Yu exquisitely interpreted educational activities in these articles.A careful study of these masterpieces on education will enlighten us on the current educational practice in China.
