Analysis on clinical factors about post-stroke depression in 134 paitents

Abstract

Objective:To explore clinical characteristics of post-stroke depression.Methods:Patients with consecutive admission to Dekang hospital for new-onset stroke who met World Health Organization and National Insitute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke criteria were eligible for inclusion in the study.All patients underwent CT or MRI scanning,depressive symptoms were assessed by using both the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and age,gender,degree of culture,marriage,number of lesion,lesion location and kind of lesion were analyzed.Results:The incidence of depression in patients with stroke was 42.6%.Statistical analysis showed that important related factors of post-stroke depression in age,degree of culture,marriage and lesion location but not in gender.Conclusion:The incidence of post-stroke depression is higher and post-stroke depression may be caused by both neurobiological and psychosocial factors.
