The Artistic Conception of Holy Mind in Confucius and Hui's Cheerfulness

Abstract

For the idealist school of philosophical thought in the Song and Ming dynasties,Confucius and Hui's is an issue of great significance,and the representatives of this school regarded the aspiration of YiYin and the scholarly attainments of YanYuan as their pursuit in morality.The cheerfulness that Confucius and YanYuan tried to acquire is a particular kind of experience on one's own spiritual level,which puts great emphasis on the ego's self-cultivation.The artistic conception of holy mind in Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness assumes that above the common social ideology which serves as the norms for people's life and behavior,there is a higher level of morality,a yearning for freedom,free of restrictions,self-satisfaction as well as happiness not in connection with fame and fortune,all of which only belong to people who manage to stand aloof from gain or loss,praise or censure,right or wrong in worldly affairs.
