The Meaning of the Critical Method of "Shi Wu Da Gu"

Abstract

Shi Wu Da Gu(诗无达诂),which means that we have no sole answer to poems,came out in West Han dynasty.It rooted in the philosophical thought in Pre-Qin dynasty,related to the academic method of quotation and explanation of poems in Pre-Qin dynasty,and the thought of Jin Wen Jing Xue (今文经学) in early Han.It has a deep historical and realistic base.It has something to do with the ambiguous meaning,image and Jing(境).We can see the difficulty in the building of the hermeneutics of literature from the discussion of the problem above in ancient times.
