Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of the multidrug resistance(MDR 1) gene and clinical drug resistance in acute leukemia(AL).Methods:Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was used to examine the expression of MDR 1 in 68 bone marrow aspirates of AL patients and 10 normal voluteer′s peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Results:The positive percentage of MDR 1 in relapsed refractory group was significantly higher than that in normal control group. In newly diagnosed group, the first complete remission(CR 1) rate of MDR 1 negative patients(88.89%) was significantly higher than that of MDR 1 psoitive (45.45%) patients. MDR 1 positive percentage was different in leukemia sub type.CyclosporinA(C sA) had an obvious effect on the reversal of MDR 1 in relapsed refractory AL.Conclusion:Overexpression of MDR 1 leads to drug resistance and it is a poor factor to prognosis.MDR 1 detection is useful for the treatment response and early relapse.
