Changes of the Thyroid Hormone Levels in Type 2 Diabetic Patients with Microalbuminuria

Abstract

Objective To investigate the changes of the thyroid function of the patients with microalbuminuria.Methods 69 diabetic patients with microalbuminuria,60 diabetic patients without microalbuminuria were enrolled from the department of endocrinology of the first clinical hospital of Shanxi Medical University.34 controls were recruited from the department of health of the hospital.To detect the indexs: free T3(FT3),free T4(FT4),thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER),blood fat,HbA1c.34 healthy people were regard as normal control.Results The FT3 levels among the three groups were statistically significant(F=8.978,P=0.000),further pairwise comparison,the group with microalbuminuria were lower than the group without microalbuminuria and the normal group(Bonferroni,P0.05).Compared with the normal control,TSH in the other groups were higher(Bonferroni,P0.05).Significant correlations were observed between FT3 levels and UAER levels(r=-0.507,P0.01).Conclusion FT3 is decreased in diabetic patients with microalbuminuria compared to diabetic patients without microalbuminuria and this decrease seems to be related to the severity of microalbuminuria levels.
