Abstract
Purpose To investigate the expression of CD147 and MMP-9 mRNA in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues and further to explore the correlation between their expression and the invasion and metastasis of the cancer. Immunohistochemical MaxVision method and RT-PCR were used to detect the expression of CD147 and MMP-9 mRNA in both 10 cases of chronic cervical inflammation and 40 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. The quantitative analysis of mean density of the expression of CD147 and the grey of MMP-9 mRNA were conducted, respectively, with the image analytic software. Results The levels of the expression of CD147 and MMP-9 mRNA were both obviously higher in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues than that in chronic cervical inflammation tissues(P0.01); their expression level was also clearly higher in the tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinoma with lymph node metastasis than that in those without lymph nodes metastasis (P0.01, P0.05).There was no difference in the expression level of CD147 between low differentiation group in cervical carcinoma and moderate differentiation group (P0.05), but the expression of MMP-9 mRNA in low differentiation group is higher than moderate differentiation group(P0.05). Conclusions There is a high level of expression of CD147 and MMP-9 mRNA in cervical squamous cell carcinoma, in which both CD147 and MMP-9 are positively related to jointly involve the invasion and metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
