Analysis of Agronomic Characters of Late-Maturity Indica Hybrid Rice Varieties Registered from 2001 to 2010 in Sichuan

Multivariate analysis was made of the agronomic characters of the late-maturity indica hybrid rice varieties registered from 2001 to 2010 in Sichuan.The results showed that seed setting was the most active and important factor,followed in order by rice blast class,the whole growth duration,plant height,effective panicles,grain number per panicle and 1000-grain-weight.Therefore,the major targets in breeding for late-maturity indica hybrid rice varieties in Sichuan should be a proper reduction in plant height without changing the current whole growth period.While putting the focus on better seed-set,we should coordinate panicle number and grain weight and pay more attention to disease resistance.
