Abstract

The regulatory model in China on lawyers has experienced from the solely governmental regulation towards the combination of government regulation and self-regulation of lawyers' associations.The disadvantages of self-regulation should not be ignored when the self-regulation in lawyer industry is strengthened.To lessen the disadvantages of self-regulation,the major role of the government should shift from regulating the lawyers directly to the supervision overSROs.Such separation and allocation of functions will facilitate the regulatory model with the interactions of administrative regulator and SROs.
