Abstract

Objective: To compare the scavenging ability of superoxide free radical( O-2·) of hesperidin and hesperetin. Methods: The scavenging reaction to O-2· of hesperidin and hesperetin was studied by the autoxidation of pyrogallol system. Results: Hesperidin and hesperetin were able to scavenge the O-2·,and the scavenying capacity showed a concentration- dependent manner. The scavenying activity of O-2· of hesperetin was significantly stronger than that of hesperidin. Conclusion: The antioxidant activity in vitro of hesperetin is stronger than that of hesperidin.
