Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and nuc1ear factor-κB (NF-κB) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their pathological meaning. Methods The expression of VEGF、COX-2 and NF-κB was detected in 60 cases of NSCLC and 16 cases of normal pulmonary tissues by immunohistochemistry SP method. Results The positive rate of VEGF,COX-2 and NF-κB were 71.67%,65.00% and 76.67% respectively, with significantly higher than those of normal lung tissue (all P0.01).No correlation was found between any protein expression with age and sex;VEGF expression was not correlated with clinical characteristics (P0.05),and they were correlated lymph node invasiveness of lung cancer (P0.05);COX-2 expression was higher in patients with adenocarcinoma and lymph node metastasis(P0.05);NF-κB expression was closely related to lymph node metastasis and stage (P0.05).There was statistically significant correlation between expression of VEGF and COX-2,COX-2 and NF-κB,VEGF and NF-κB respectively. Conclusions VEGF、COX-2 and NF-κB overexpression are significantly associated with each other, which may play an important role on development of non-small cell lung cancer.Detections of them can be used as indexes for judgment about pathological grade in NSCLC.
