Abstract
The bioactivity of eugenol against 3rd instar larvae of Spodoptera litura Fab.was investigated in laboratory.The results showed that eugenol strongly inhibited food take,and the 24 and 72 h AFC50 values of Eugenol to 3rd instar larvae of Spodoptera litura Fab.were 0.631 mg/mL and 0.478 mg/mL,respectively.Eugenol also had a toxicity against 3rd instar larvae of Spodoptera litura Fab.,and 6 and 9 d after treatment the corrected mortality rate was 41.44% and 68.10% at the concentration of 5 mg/mL,respectively.Also it showed a significant inhibition to the development of 3rd instar larvae,larvae weight and weight increment decreased,larvae mortality increased,pupal weight and pupal rate were significantly lower than the control.
