Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevailing tendency of iodine deficiency disorders(IDD) and the fulfillment of prevention and control of IDD. Methods Using the indices stipulated inThe National Project of Surveillance on IDD,iodine nutrition situation was investigated among people in the endemic area.Children goiter rate aged from 8~10,urinary iodine,iodized salt coverage,health education on IDD and environmental water iodine were surveyed. Results Child goiter rate was 6.40%.The averaged urineiodine fluctuated 200.02 μg/L.Iodine salt covered 92.82% of the residents.IDD health knowledge questionnaire revealed that students in Grade 5 and housewives repectively got a qualified rate of 56.01% and 79.37% respectively.Environmental water iodine fluctuated in the range of 0.11 μg/L and 13.27 μg/L,averaged value 4.36 μg/L. Conclusion Children goiter rate aged from 8~10,urinary iodine,and iodized salt coverage are in the stage of aiming at eliminating IDD.The propaganda of IDD health knowledge is not effective.There is iodine deficit in the environment.
