Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of forsythia suspense extract on scavenging free radical in vitro. Methods The extract of forsythia suspense were extracted by using ethanol,and the rates of scavenging the hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical were detected. Results The capability of scavenging free radical from forsythia suspense leaf and green forsythia suspense was stronger than forsythia suspense fruit and old forsythia suspense,respectively.Comparing to other pairs,the capability of scavenging free radical from the skin of forsythia suspense was weaker(P0.05).The extract of forsythia suspense had capability to scavenge free radical,and the scavenging ability increased with increasing of extract concentration(P0.05) Conclusion The extract of forsythia suspense had antioxidant,and strong capability to savage free radical in vitro.
