Abstract
University culture includes value orientation, social ideal, moral faith, values, innovation spirit of the university as well as the university's management systems, behavior approaches, teaching and science research characteristics and so on. The culture of a university, if formed positively, can build up the members' feeling of ownership and strengthen the upward attitudes, becoming a power for the university development. It can also set up its social influence that can improve its competition ability under the market economy background. However, in recent years, universities in China have lost their spirit because of administrative powers of government, university bureaucracy and social utilitarianism thought. The pursuit of academic GDP in universities is extremely common and universities have lost their individualities. In other words, the lack of culture is a serious issue in universities.For this reason, there is a long way for universities to remake their sprit in today's higher education turning from external enlarging to internal improvement.
