Multi-electrode radiofrequency ablation therapy in patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma

Objective To evaluate clinical effect of multi-electrode radiofrequency ablation(RFA) therapy in patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma(HCH).Methods 21 patients,with 25 HCHs 2.9 to 8.5 cm in diameter with the mean size of 5.9 cm,were treated with 50～90 watt emission.All patients were examined by B-ultrasound and CT after RFA.Results Twenty-one patients completed the therapy successfully.B-ultrasound revealed volume of HCHs were reduced(40%~50%)after RFA,Blood supply of HCHs were reduced or disappeared one month after RFA therapy,17 HCHs less than 5cm in diameter were disappeared completely,1 case was treated incompletely.21 patients were followed up for 1 to 35 months,curative effect was satisfactory.Conclusion Multi-electrode radiofrequency ablation therapy is a safe and effective treatment option for patients with HCHs.
