Abstract

Sarah in THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN has always been praised as a representative of feminism,but what is ignored is that the reason for her struggle,the way she fights for her female identity and the freedom she has acquired at last are all closely associated with the male.Sarah seems to be an independent woman ahead of her time,but she cannot get away from the influence of patriarchy and achieve the female liberation and freedom in its true sense.
