Emperor Lizong of the Song Dynasty and Neo-confucianism

Emperor Lizong of Song Dynasty upheld neo-confucianism, givinging it a domin ant ideological position with his authority . In the past,some scholars have studied the historical process and influence of Emperor Lizong's upholding neo-c onfucianism to a certain degree , yet it is not all-round or detailed.The thesis researches the ideological source of Emperor Lizong , the stages of his upholding neo-confucianism, and the opposing or unifying relation between Emperor Lizong and neo-confucianism or neo-confucianists.The thesis points out that , Emp eror Lizong was not the same as neo-confucianists ,he took a pragmatistic attit ude to neo-confucianism, but did not put it into pratice , meanwhile, at that time ,neo-confucianism had exposed the obvious short comings of empty talk and dream , which indicaded that it began to decline when it reached the dominant positio n .
