Abstract

Objective The present study was performed to investigate the effect of pulsed radiofrequency on treating the syndrome of posterior ramus of lumbar nerve guided by C-arm.Methods One hundred and twenty patients with syndrome of posterior ramus of lumbar nerve were randomly allocated into the following two groups:the pulsed radiofrequency treatment group(group A)and the conventional nerve block treatment group(group B),with 60 patients in each group. The VAS before treatment and 3day,1week,1month,and 3months after treatment were all recorded. The lumbar flexion range, the tenderness, sense and motion function of the low back and legs were evaluated before treatment and 3months after treatment. Results The VAS scores were decreased significantly in both groups after treatment compared with baseline(P0.05).The VAS scores showed significant statistical difference between the two groups at 1week,1month,and 3months after treatment(P0.05 or P0.01).Evaluation the lumbar flexion range and the tenderness recovery revealed significant improvement in groups A than B(P0.01).There was no significant statistical difference in sense and motion function of the low back and legs. Conclusion Pulsed radiofrequency is effective and recommeded on treating the syndrome of posterior ramus of nerve.
