Effect of combination of Chinese herb with soothing liver and strengthening spleen,regulating stomach ascending qi and point application on functional dyspepsia with hepatic stagnation and spleen deficiency type

Objective To evaluate the effect of combination of Chinese herb with soothing liver and strengthening spleen,regulating stomach ascending qi and point application on functional dyspepsia (FD) with hepatic stagnation and spleen deficiency type. Methods 160 cases of FD were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in control group (n=80) were treated by routine therapy. Patients in treatment group (n=80) were treated by combination of Chinese herb with soothing liver and strengthening spleen,regulating stomach ascending qi and point application. The therapeutic course was four weeks in two groups. The effect and main syndrome and sign score were investigated two courses later. Results There was no significant difference between two group on the total effective rate (92.8%,90.0%,P0.05). The excellent rate in treatment group (86.3%) was higher than that in control group (60.0%,P0.05). The syndrome and total score was decreased after treatment in two groups in comparison with those before treatment (P0.01). The improvement of abdominal pain,anorexia,acratia and total score in treatment group was superior to those in control group (P0.05,P0.01). Conclusion Combination of Chinese herb with soothing liver and strengthening spleen,regulating stomach ascending qi and point application can promote gastrointestinal motility and evacuation of gastrointestinal tract,improve clinical symptom on functional dyspepsia.
