The Entering Tone in Mengzhou Dialect

Abstract

Mengzhou,the transitional area of Mandarin dialect and Jin dialect,is located in northern Henan province.At present,the academic agree that there is no entering tone in Mengzhou dialect.However,I think it is a wrong formulation based on the essence that Mengzhou dialect retains an independent voice of entering tone.On the currently available materials,the evolution of the entering tone in Mengzhou dialect is more or less the same with that in Hanxin area belonged to Jin dialect.
