Abstract
Objective To examine the differences of the coping style among college students from different types of universities. Methods The Chinese version of coping style questionnaire was used to investigate 1 206 college students from 10 different universities in Hunan Province.Results There were significantly differences among the students from the different types of universities in self-blaming,help seeking,illusion,escaping and rationalization.The students from the first type of universities took more positive coping style and less negative coping style than the students from other types of universities.There were also significant differences in help seeking and illusion between genders.Female students took more help seeking and illusion than male students.There were still significant differences in self-blaming,escaping,rationalization and illusion among the students from different grades.The students from lower grade took less negative coping style than the students from higher grades.Conclusions The coping style of college students is affected by the type of universities,gender and grade.
