Abstract
This article indicates that the present-day environmental campaign and environmental ethics are now leading and promoting a change in the guiding faith of traditional ethics and moral customs for the purpose of adjusting the distorted relationship between man and nature. The emexgence of environmental ethics indicates the environmental awareness of human beings and distillation. The author, from the standpoint of the evolution of man-environment relationship, observes and analyses the social, historical and cultural source of the change.The study of the evolution characteristics and direction of East and West traditional ethics is an attempt to combines the ideas of East and West so as to learn from each other's strong points and offSet each other's weakness, in order to construct and develop modern environmental ethics and make practical efforts to drive the revolution of modern ethical culture and create a green civilization on earth.
