Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of costimulatory molecules CD80,CD86 and CD28 in the occurrence and development of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Methods CD80,CD86 and CD28 were detected in circulating lymphocytes in peripheral blood of 40 patients with SLE using flow cytometry and monoclonal antibodies technology.Results Patients with SLE had a high percentage of lymphocytes expressing CD80 and CD86 in their peripheral blood.The expression of CD80 and CD86 in active group of SLE was higher than that of inactive group.A positive correlation between SLE DAI and the expression of CD80 and CD86 was found.But the percentage of lymphocytes expressing CD28 had not difference from the control group.Conclusion Costimulatory molecules B7/CD28 in peripheral blood lymphocytes might play a role in the pathogenesis of SLE.
