Abstract

Emperor Jin Xuanzong(金宣宗) waged a war against Song Dynasty in the first year of Xingding(兴定元年,1217年) under the situation of having been attacked by the enemies from three directions with the aim to extend territory, to grab money and goods of Huainan(淮南) of Song Dynasty and to compel Song to hand in annual taxes again. Nevertheless, the original intention of Jin Dynasty fell through and the Song Dynasty has been pushed to the enemy alliance, thus the Jin Dynasty had been utterly surrounded by enemies and fell into the plight of lacking both soldiers and money. The capacity to resist Mongol has been reduced greatly.
